So, this should be outrageous fun!!!!
The Oklahoma Romance writers (that includes me!) had our annual Christmas party this past Saturday, hosted by none other than RWA’s 2010 Nora Robert’s Lifetime Achievement recipient, Sharon Sala. She lives in Norman.
In any event, eleven other authors are collaborating on a Regency Romance project that starts on Wednesday, December 12, for, yes, 12 days. http://wildokies.blogspot.com/ titled appropriately enough, My True Love Gave To Me.
We begin with …a partridge in a pear tree…authored by our next year’s president, Callie Hutton.
Followed by …two turtle doves…
…three french hens…
…four calling birds….
I have …five golden rings…; (That by the way is December 14th. )
etc…etc…
I think the most entertaining thing for me up to this point, has been working with the …seven Swanns a swimming…
Let me explain. Lord Swann has seven daughters he is determined to marry off. The collaborative efforts behind the scenes have been just as entertaining as I am hoping the stories themselves are.
So I invite you to join the Oklahoma Outlaws of the Oklahoma Romance chapter of RWA for our very own special brand of Christmas cheer.
Sincerely,
Kathy L Wheeler
Intro:
Pemberton Hall, England – 1814
The hall is ablaze with lights as servants bustle about. The Duke and Duchess of Pemberton are positively famous for their Annual Christmas Ball. Bedrooms have been aired and dusted for arriving guests. The ballroom and other public rooms are festooned with greenery. The kitchens are a hive of activity as dishes of every variety are prepared.
A secured invitation ensures one’s position in the ton for the upcoming season. The noblest of England’s finest families vie for the honor to attend—most especially those with daughters of a marriageable age. As the Christmas Ball fills with guests ranging from scandalous rogues to men of good heart, all of whom dance attendance on the lovely ladies of the beau monde, a happily ever after affords the most wondrous Christmas of all.
Please join the Wild Okie Writers as we present the serial Regency romance, My True Love Gave to Me.

Woo hoo, Kathy! So excited to post the first chapter tomorrow. The emails have been flying back and forth, ‘borrowing’ characters, and dressing (and undressing) them. This is going to be fun!!
I’m really looking forward to reading all the chapters.
Thank you, Ella. I hear you are quite the expert. I hope we don’t disappoint.
I’m blushing. I have a reputation for being concise when it comes to my research. I’ve liked them all so far.
Callie, can you say something about the “partridge in a pear tree” at all? Just to peak our interest…
Kathy,
What a fun sounding project for you and your fellow Oklahoma RWA authors!
You guys are so creative!
Thanks Darcy. We do our best, but I have to fess up, it wasn’t my idea…but I jumped in with both feet. The OKRWA is definitely a creative group.
I can’t wait to start reading the chapters. Our OKRWA gals are always up to something. And, we have some wonderful writers, I’m proud to say!
Nice picture, btw…
And one FABULOUS editor….
Sounds like a fun project! You Okie ladies are sure busy!
