An Ode to Squirrel Moments ~~ Chris Redding

paulyAs I am writing this, I am sick and hacking up a lung. I VERY rarely get sick so this is a pretty impressive bug that has a hold of me. It has probably been ten years since I’ve felt this awful for this long. It’s  been four days and counting.

Here I sit trying to figure out what to write, my mind has had many squirrel moments.

Squirrel moments, you ask?

If you’ve seen the movie Up, you’ll remember Doug the dog who keeps getting distracted by squirrels. Those happen often in my house. Sometimes in thoughts and sometimes even in conversations.

blonde demoSo in order to write this blog I decide I should probably eat something first. So I do that, munching on some leftovers as I stand in the kitchen. Then I decide to have some tea, but before I can do that I rearrange the tea boxes in the cabinet.

While the tea is heating, I blow my nose for the umpteenth time today. Tea in hand, I return to the laptop, but go back to turn off the light in the kitchen.

Do I sit down to write? Nope.

I hope on Facebook clicking on an article about Frasier the comedy that starred Kelsey Grammar.  Next comes Twitter then my e-mail to see what’s come in while I was making tea.

Then I search blog topics for some inspiration.

On this day, I’ve actually completed some tasks. Some days I get sidetracked so often that there are many jobs left incendiaryundone.

This why I could understand Inception the first time I saw it. It was laid out how my brain works.

This is also why my books tend to have more than one story line in them. I would be bored writing one story line. I’ve tried it and I did get bored. Never finished that story.

I’m often asked how can I keep my plots so intricate and I have to say I have no choice. It’s just how my brain works.

Do find your brain works differently than most people?
